Atalanta can only think of earning full three points when they welcome the newly promoted Benevento for the Serie A fixture on Monday night.

Gian Piero Gasperini has so far failed to lift the team to the form that helped Atalanta finish fourth in the league last season and the team is currently 12th in the table, falling 10 points behind the top six teams.

With the 2-0 defeat to Inter last week, Atalanta are now on a three match win-less run in Serie A. However, the team picked up a huge morale boosting win on the midweek by thrashing Everton 5-1 which could bright back some momentum to kick start a positive run in their domestic campaign.

The newly promoted Benevento remain with zero points at the foot of the table after losing all 13 matches in the Serie A so far. There are little to write about this team and it is quite evident that this squad do not belong at this level.

The only thing that changed about Benevento in the recent weeks is the fact that they started to score some goals. Now they found the back of the net in 4 consecutive games, after having scored just twice in the first 9 games of the campaign. They did scored against Lazio and at Juventus in the process. On the other hand, they are the worst defensive unit in the league with 33 goals conceded and a negative 27 goal-difference.

On paper, Atalanta are perfectly poised to win this one without much fuss. In spite the inconsistent pattern in their overall run of form, the La Dea were always a tough nut to crack at home. Also, I don’t see Benevento doing anything substantial against any team at this level at this point of time.
