The Red Devils are flying high in their return to the most elite football competition in Europe.

Jose Mourinho’s side proved the class by trashing both Basel and CSKA Moscow in the opening two rounds of Champions League and we have to see them as massive favourites to maintain such a strong rhythm against the struggling Benfica side at Estadio da Luz.

This is the final opportunity for Aguias to catch a break and get back into the contest for top two spots in the Group A following starting defeats against the Russians and the Swiss.

Rui Vitoria’s men showed a horrendous display in the second round in particular when they allowed an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Basel at St. Jakob-Park.

Benfica have not been doing much better in the domestic league either where they trail by five points behind Porto at the top of Primeira Liga standings.

The Portuguese outfit scored only a single goal so far in Champions League and we are not quite optimistic about their chances of improving this poor record against Man Utd who have been very tough to break down both in Champions League and in Premier League. United allowed only two goals in last seven games in all competitions.

The job on the other side of the pitch has been done phenomenally by Romelu Lukaku who bagged three goals in Champions League and seven more in the domestic competition.
