After a surprise win over Sampdoria, Bologna will hope to build upon this as they welcome Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.

The Rossoblu find themselves in the top half of the table and impressively level on points with Milan, who spent big this summer and still can’t get into the top four, let alone challenge for the Scudetto. It’s an impressive achievement for Bologna, who are merely hoping to remain afloat in the top flight, and even to finish in the top half of the table will be an excellent achievement for themselves. They surely will be looking to take advantage of Cagliari’s bad form, who come into this game having lost 3-1 to Inter at the weekend.

Cagliari thought they had turned a corner, but their wins were against the likes of Benevento and Hellas Verona, so it perhaps had given them a sense of a false dawn. They surely will be up against it here, especially with the hosts brimming with confidence following their impressive showing against Sampdoria on hone turf. As they’re playing at home yet again, Bologna again will be fancying their chances as Cagliari will represent a much easier opponent – on paper, at least.
