Both Sampdoria and Lazio have had solid seasons, and they will be keen on making their respective marks as they meet in a top six clash on Sunday evening.

The Biancocelesti have sealed their spot in the round of 32 of this season’s Europa League, but domestically have tailed off after a blistering start. Simone Inzaghi’s men first lost the Derby della Capitale to Roma before stumbling to a surprise draw with Fiorentina, and will be desperate to get back to winning ways in order to get themselves back into a top four spot.

So far Lazio’s only away loss was at the Stadio Olimpico, where they were designated as the “away” side. They have already beaten Juventus this season, becoming the first side since Udinese in August 2015 which makes them a serious threat to Sampdoria, who come into this game still reeling after a shock 3-0 loss to Bologna.

However, the Blucheriati suffered that surprise defeat on the road. At home, they’re an entirely other side altogether and have picked up six wins out of six. That rises to seven if once includes their victory as the “away” side versus Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna against Genoa.

Ciro Immobile, of course, will be key for Lazio, having scored an impressive 15 goals for the Aquile this term. That total sees him level with Mauro Icardi in the race for the Capocannoniere and he will be key if Lazio want to get themselves out of their mini funk on Saturday evening. Given that Lazio have managed to score in their last five road fixtures against Samp, they should be able to do so again on Sunday – but will it be enough to seal a much needed win?

Lazio have an excellent traveling record, and an even better historical record against Sampdoria. That being said, the hosts have been quite strong at home and it’s hard to see them being pushovers – after all, they did manage to beat Juve at this same ground. This will be a tough encounter for the Biancocelesti, in which it could be tough to seal all three points.
